In Homer’s Odyssey, Aeolus was the king that gifted Odysseus a bag of winds in order for him to sail back to Ithaca peacefully. However, just before they reached home, Odysseus’s men became curious. Believing the bag to be filled with treasure opened the bag, releasing the winds and sending them right back to Aeolus’s kingdom.
